A Dog Governess

I've written before about the art of Janet Hill. I have to ration myself in looking at her work, though, or else I would be way too tempted to order more prints (and I already own this one, this one, and this one). But after taking a peek at her site recently, I can't help sharing a new series by her that I'm completely smitten with: Miss Moon Was a Dog Governess.

Each piece in the series features Miss Moon teaching a different lesson to her canine charges. You can see them all here.

It would be perfectly reasonable to hang one of each along my floorboards as artwork for Millie, right?

  1. Hi, can i ask you something? You seem to know a lot about children books and illustrations. The thing is, I’m looking for children books with “scary” animal illustrations like the big bad wolf (or a fox) eating pigs (or seven kids or Red Riding hood or birds in Chicken Little) or being pictured with a fat stomach. Could be any other animal as well. I need it for my research. Any sort of help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    1. I'm not that up to date with illustrated children's books, so I'm afraid I might not be much help. This might be an obvious suggestion, but Maurice Sendak's books were the first to come to mind as having somewhat scary illustrations. I can think of two other blogs you may want to check out: 1) Brona's Books and 2) Julia's Bookbag. Both frequently feature children's books and may be helpful.
